Mind Body Spine is an ICBC Chiropractic Care Provider
Is Chiropractic Care Covered Through My Regular ICBC Insurance Plan?
When you need a consultation and chiropractic treatment after a car accident, your initial visit and first 25 visits within the first 12 weeks are covered by your ICBC insurance plan. This makes it easy to get the help you need to heal and prevent any future problems caused by a motor vehicle accident.
At Mind Body Spine here in Victoria, BC, we offer customized chiropractic treatment plans using a balanced total body approach. Dr Louie will develop a treatment plan, offer postural advice and recommend specific stretches and exercises to rebuild strength and flexibility, so you can get on the road to recovery quickly.
So we can get the full picture, your new patient exam will cover the following:
- Complete health history
- Thorough physical exam
- X-Ray or sEMG (if needed)
- Doctor’s report and review of findings
Car crashes happen in a heartbeat and can leave you with whiplash, lingering back pain and debilitating joint problems. Even if you’re not experiencing pain after a collision, it can be a good idea to see a chiropractor for an assessment. This may help rule out any invisible injury that could show up in the future.
Signs that you may have sustained an injury during a crash include mild to severe pain in legs, arms, neck and back or other extremities, stiffness and pain in neck and back and joint and muscle pain.
Muscle pain and back/neck stiffness typically begin within 24 hours after an accident, but it can sometimes take as long as 7-10 days for symptoms to show.
If you’re experiencing discomfort after a car crash, we recommend seeing a registered chiropractor like Dr. Stephanie Louie. Having your injuries looked at as soon as possible might prevent further damage and may help to aid in a faster recovery.
What Is the New ICBC Enhanced Care Program?
In a move meant to help you receive the best possible treatment, ICBC will be rolling out new Enhanced Care Coverage this spring. This means that our team will be able to provide you with ongoing, comprehensive care for as long as you need it, worry-free.
In May 2021, the BC Government and ICBC will introduce Enhanced Care Coverage. Under this program, all British Columbians (driver, passenger, pedestrian or cyclist) who have been injured in a crash will have greatly enhanced recovery benefits.
Claims coverage will increase from the current $300,000 maximum to up to $7.5 million per individual. This coverage is provided as needed for treatment for your recovery, for as long as it’s required to get you back to work and your regular life. ICBC’s Enhanced Care Coverage will also include wage loss payments of up to 90%.
The care benefits and compensation can also be used for services that are often used in conjunction with chiropractic treatment, such as travel and accommodation for out-of-town travel for appointments, physiotherapy and massage therapy. This enhanced coverage is designed to help ensure that additional treatment and support is accessible, no matter how much time you may need to make a full recovery.
Seeing a chiropractor soon after a traumatic event like a motor vehicle accident can potentially help with:
- A quicker recovery
- Lower or zero out-of-pocket payments
- A shorter claims process with ICBC
- Immediate treatment
- A stronger, healthier you— mind, body and spine.
