Proper Sleeping Position

What’s the Best Sleeping Position?

I am frequently asked by my patients, what the best sleeping position is. I always recommend that although it may be hard to control what position your body is in while you sleep, it is always a good idea to avoid sleeping on your stomach. Sleeping in this position can put a tremendous amount of stress on the muscles, joints and nerves in your neck. The American Chiropractic Association recommends that you sleep on your back or side. If you sleep on your back, keep a pillow behind your knees and if you sleep on your side, you can place a pillow between your knees to take any stress off of your low back. Sleeping in either of these positions keeps your spine in a neutral position.

Sweet dreams!
