Like many chiropractors, I get a lot of questions about my approach to chiropractic treatment and care. Here are some of the more common questions that come in, as well as my answers:
What about workplace injuries?
My training in Kinesiology, human anatomy and ergonomics gives me a unique understanding of the problems related to repetitive strain and other workplace injuries. In addition to lifting, falling or twisting accidents, I deal with a lot of “desk jockeys” who get neck and back strain from working at a computer all day. As a result, I’ve developed a special “lunch and learn” seminar program for employers to help their employees stay energized, motivated and safe while they work, as well as recuperate faster when they do get injured. I was in an accident. What should I do?
If you think you require urgent medical attention, call your family doctor or go to Emergency. If your issue is non-emergency-related, give me a call. In some circumstances, I may be able to book a same-day chiropractic appointment. If necessary, we can take digitally-enhanced xrays to help diagnose the severity of your condition.
Why should I see a chiropractor?
Chiropractors specialize in the relationship between the spine and nervous system. The brain sends information to the rest of the body through the spinal cord. If there is disruption or interference with these messages, your whole body can suffer. When nerves are pinched, for example, joints, muscles or tendons throughout your body can be affected, which can result in pain and chronic illness. Your chiropractor is specially trained to correct these problems using highly controlled adjustments. Millions of people find chiropractic therapy to be an effective remedy for back pain, neck pain, shoulder and arm pain, and leg and buttock pain. It’s also effective at helping people stay healthy and enhance overall health when used as part of a holistic wellness program, which helps explain why it has become so popular today.
Why should I see you, Dr. Louie?
I have an extensive scientific background in human physiology, biomechanics, ergonomics and sports injuries. As a sports enthusiast myself, I understand how to speed up injury recovery and enhance performance. I have also worked extensively with families — prebirth and and postbirth mothers, seniors, infants and kids, and understand the common issues they face and how to care for them. I use a balanced program of hands-on spinal adjustment, nutrition and exercise to get you back to optimal health and help you stay there. My approach is holistic and compassionate, and focused on getting you results. See the results I’ve accomplished with my other chiropractic clients, told in their own words.
What can I expect on my first visit?
The first step is to fill out our confidential intake form. Next, you and I will sit down and have a discussion about your history. This is followed by a physical exam, and if necessary, high resolution digital xrays. If recommended, we will then proceed with chiropractic treatment. You may also receive guidance for doing home exercises to aid in rehabilitation.
Do you accept insurance claims?
Yes. I work with ICBC and Workers Compensation (Worksafe) claimants on a regular basis. I have an extensive background working with workplace injuries and people who’ve been in a car accident. We’ll even help with the paperwork. Give us a call to learn more.
