Back pain is most often related to problems with the joints and tissues in your back. Twisting, lifting or bending incorrectly or poor posture can cause pain in the back muscles, tendons, and joints, and sometimes radiate to the hips, legs and buttocks. The good news is that my chiropractic adjustments are extremely effective at aligning joints and relaxing inflamed tissues, reducing nerve constriction and in turn, reducing pain.
Another common cause of back pain come from irritation or pressure on the discs, the soft round pads of tissue that act as the ‘shock absorbers’ of your spine. A sudden force, poor posture, or repetitive stress can cause the disc to be irritated, deteriorate or bulge out, which can pinch the spinal nerves, which may result in severe low back, leg pain and neurological deficits. I’ve had great success with a combination of chiropractic adjustments, and specific exercise and stretching targeted at rehabilitating the discs.
There are a host of back issues that can cause back pain, but the two above are common culprits. Regardless of the cause of your back pain, the important thing is to address the issue as early as possible — even if the pain goes away — because problems can get worse, and take longer to resolve, with age and time.
